• Design a poster/flyer which includes: film name, date and time, location and address, admission cost (if any), organisers and sponsors, and a website URL. It is recommended that the design should have an attention-grabbing central image and use large text sizes.

  • Write a Press Release and send it to online and offline media outlets ideally a month before the screening. A guide on writing press releases for films is available here and a good sample is available here.

  • Put the poster/flyer up a month before the screening at spaces that are relevant and friendly, such as cafes and campuses.

  • Online promotion is equally as important. Create and share a Facebook event, use relevant #tags when promoting on Twitter, post on blogs, and mail to E-mail lists.
