With the dominance of big tech video platforms, do independent video platforms still matter?

At the eighth Video4Change Learning Session, EngageMedia will share the opportunities and challenges it experienced while managing Cinemata, an open and secure video platform for social issue films in the Asia-Pacific.

The session, titled “Against the Flow: Hosting an Independent Video Platform”, is open to the public and free to attend, and will be held on Thursday, July 14, 19:00 Bangkok time (UTC+7).

Cinemata highlights essential yet underheard stories, increasing filmmakers’ reach, engagement, and impact, and helping audiences discover thought-provoking videos. Video Manager King Catoy will discuss Cinemata’s new features, targeted outreach, and distribution strategies that video platform curators and film teams can utilize to create impact.

Participants can also share experiences of other open-technology platforms that their organisations use for their advocacies and initiatives.
